On December 15, 2025, Sony Device Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. organized the Smart Factory Hackathon 2025, offering total prizes worth THB 83,500.

The Smart Factory Hackathon is a program that provides undergraduate students from universities across Thailand with an opportunity to learn, explore ideas, design solutions, and develop smart systems that can be applied to real operations in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Mr. Nobuyuki Iwashita, Managing Director of Sony Device Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd., welcomed the participating professors and students and officially opened the Smart Factory Hackathon 2025. Through this activity, Sony Device Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. aimed to support students in applying their knowledge, creativity, and digital skills to real challenges in semiconductor manufacturing.

During the competition, participants were assigned the main challenge of developing a web application to improve production process management and support smoother factory operations.

The activity consisted of three main stages.

  • First, an online workshop was held to introduce information about the company, the main challenge, and the data required for development.
  • After the workshop, each team had 14 days to develop a prototype web application based on the assigned challenge.
  • The final stage was the On-site Hackathon Day at Sony Device Technology (Thailand), where participants received an additional challenge, further developed their solutions, and presented their work to the judging committee.

The winning teams of this year’s competition were as follows:

  • First Runner-up, THB 20,000
    CS TU, Thammasat University
  • Second Runner-up, THB 10,000
    Capmhoo, Khon Kaen University
  • Creative Award, THB 5,000
    Num Dubai, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi
